DragonCon

So I am finally ready for DragonCon. All the prints and merchandise is ready to go. We don't leave for another week but I am glad it is all done with. I could be one of those crazy people that paints like a maniac up until the second we leave but I am choosing not to. I think I have let this convention stress me out enough.

In fact when I get back I am thinking of going on a "vacation" No I won't be able to drift off to some island or exotic locale but I need a break. I need to unchain myself from this computer and updating things and checking my email like I am some sort of robot.

I know some people will think a vacation from my work is laughable. Most of those people think I sit in my jammies, eat chocolate and doodle pretty unicorns all day. I have kind of made peace with the fact that, that is what people who are not in the knows perception of what my line of work is. I don't feel the need to justify what I do further then what I have said or what my peers have stated at one time or another. I bust my ass, I need a break enough said.

I hope this time will be taken to cleanse the slate and make way for new art or at least meditate on what it is I want to do and where it is I want to go. I need to have some new perspective. It is hard to get that when your back is spasming from hunching over art and you can't sleep because of it.

No this isn't my swan song. I am sure I will be updating with what I am doing and other news. The licensing train and what have you doesn't stop because I am on vacation. Orders don't stop because I am on vacation. Its not a vacation really but a return to the zen my life was before it got nuts.

Moving along

So things are chugging along here. Why is it the slower I want time to pass the faster it goes?? We only have two more weeks to prepare before Johnnie and I leave for Atlanta and my in laws come to stay with our animals. This is my LAST out of state show for the year whooohoo!! I am sick to death of being on the road. I am to the point right now where I could do DragonCon tomorrow if I had to so that isn't a bad place to be two weeks out. I am hoping to use this extra time to work on some art. I had wanted to do so yesterday but had some CD's to burn and letters to send out to a few companies. Admin and all that can be SO time consuming that is for sure.

I want to finish up these black cats. I get letters and inquiries and calls ALL the freaking time about them. Honestly I want it DONE so I can just scream HERE!!! now let me paint a dragon for goodness sake!! I have 9 to do. For the first time I have a painting schedule and I am not a fan of it. These will take weeks and weeks to do. 9 digital paintings..sheesh.

Why is it when I am intrenched in digital tasks up to my eyes I want to make something with real paint?? I suppose the grass is always greener....I have sketched out every painting for the Cats in hats. Everything is laid out and all the paintings are tinted a color. I have some errands to run today but after that I am going to be working on the June kitty. I am all over the place with them. Christmas one day, summer the next but whatever gets them finished is fine with me.
