Back home
Well we made it home! Got in around 7am, I was up for almost 27 hours straight and I am totally beat. I have stories and pictures but they are going to have to wait until tomorrow.
We have so much exciting stuff coming. New jewelry stuff is coming and new candles, new figurines, new book, new art, more...stay tuned.
Our regular cameo necklaces took a serious hit at the show and we have to make more in addition to our special ones coming soon.
Today I am ordering stuff, recouping and making plans for the next bout of shows. We added Balticon in May so we will be busy every weekend that month. It is going to be totally crazy.
I have an awesome dragon I sculpted for the con, I haven't painted him yet but I will tomorrow. He may be the only one I get to this year, we will see.

One more day
Hi Guys,
I am wearily reporting to you from Imagicon. I had two really successful panels yesterday (I was told the two busiest so far) I spoke for almost 4 hours as they where back to back. I got a teeny break cause some jerk pulled the fire alarm in the middle of one and they evacuated the WHOLE convention center for like 25-30 min. The dealers where pissed as they where finally starting to do some bigger business. Oh well.
I am drinking airborne and hoping this sore throat is from talking too much. Have my sculpting workshop at 10am this morning and one more panel and i am done as far as obligation goes. I have a bid on something in the art show and that is it, I am hoping that changes today as well.
Well better run gotta check out and then head to the convention center.

All work and no sleep makes Ash go something something...
Hi All,
Birmingham Alabama is great. The people here are SO nice and really polite. The convention center is the best one I have been to so far. The staff is REALLY helpful. They met us at the car and wheeled our stuff to our booth. We usually have to sell our soul for a cart at some of these places I swear. The convention itself...slow. I mean I do cons, Fridays are slow. This is the slowest Friday I have ever had. Its a new show, I am hoping today is a LOT better. Kelly in the art show is really busting her tail making it really great. I had two panels yesterday and two today. I am pretty sure I am the only female on the artist track. Its kinda funny to be the only girl on a panel full of guys...who do comics...I got a laugh when someone was talking about what they where doing in the 80's and I said I was a toddler in 1983..
So I am up early, apparently Alabama = SNORING. BIG time.....I am averaging 2-3 hours sleep. I am chugging Airborne like a fiend so I don't get sick.
I am taking pictures and will do a bigger picture post later. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

We are here!
Hi Everyone,
I am happy to say I am in Birmingham Alabama! We got here a few hours ago. All in all it took about 12 hours. We had some rain coming down but the weather is nice here. We have already checked in for the dealers room and the show. We are able to set up around midnight and we are going to do that so we don't have to get up so early tomorrow. I have two panels tomorrow. Should be a fun day.
No pictures yet, it was too rainy on the way down.
Hope everyone is having a good one and we will check in again tomorrow :)

Alabama bound
Hey everyone,
This is the last you will be hearing from me until after Imagicon unless we have time and internet access in the hotel. I promise to take a lot of pictures! My inlaws are staying at our house and receiving packages and taking care of the pets. THANKS GUYS! We leave EARLY tomorrow morning and should be in Alabama late Thursday evening. Hopefully we won’t be too tired cause we have to be at Imagicon to set up bright and early! I really hope we have a good show. I have never been to Alabama before so it should be exciting. I have been told to keep an eye out for a rather profane looking giant peach...I will.
Just a few things before we leave:
All orders placed between last friday and today have shipped out.
Shipping will resume on Friday April 3, you can of course purchase anything off the website in our absence but we won’t be able to ship until then.
I have a whole bay in the art show at Imagicon, we will have several special framed things, original art and embellished art prints priced to sell!

Only two more days and we will be gone. I am getting orders we have together for the post office tomorrow and some last min little things to do and that is it. I am anxious to get on the road and to the show. I am not much of a public speaker and will now be speaking for hours every day for three days. I kinda just want it over with.
My Dante the fire dragon auction has less then a day to go, he is still at one cent: http://ping.fm/vT9LP
We are taking the LAST Jay the vulture to Imagicon with us and most of the other retired pieces we have left. That Dante on EBAY could be the very last chance to get one from me.
Aside from the show life goes on. Johnnie and I are on the 6th revision of my book and we are going to wrap that up when we get home from Imagicon. We will be taking pre orders until April 20th.
Lots to do, my bunny isn't herself, I suspect tooth issues. We can't get her in to the vet until AFTER we get back so we are leaving her with soft food and lots of hay. She should be fine but I always worry about my pets when we leave town.
Oh well I better get back to it.

3 Days
So we leave in three days and still have so much to do. I can't go anywhere right now as I am waiting for a contractor to come and give us an estimate for a fence. Our neighbor has been unhappy with our dog in her yard, two years later. (though she also lacks a fence) So we are going to see how much it is going to cost. Then I am sure I will have construction people stomping in and out of the house as soon as we get back from Imagicon. Honestly I would love to move. My other neighbors treat their place like a frat house with people coming and going all night long, screaming drunk in the street. We where told when we bought the place that he was a nice quiet guy. Guess the joke is on us. Anyway when the housing market gets back to normal we are so out of here.
Also my bunny picks now to get finicky about her food. I am worried she has a tooth problem but I can't get her an appointment with a bunny Dr. until we get back. I am going to worry about her the whole trip now and we may even take her with us and sneak her in the hotel. Advanced bunny medics is a little over my inlaws head.

Last night I had to redo my layouts for the art show. I had a piece that I wanted to take that didn't get finished in time. I am happy with the new revisions. I always forget to leave room for the bid sheets! 5 of the 7 Mythical chakra originals are going with us and hopefully never ever coming back. Really if you wanted to purchase one of them please do so before I temporarily remove them from the site. I have a few more things to mount and then I am completely finished with the show. Well that and finish a sculpture for my workshop and make a few armatures. I would have worked on it late last night but Johnnie made me stop and watch Twilight on demand. I want to get the DVD when I get home.
Well that was the fence guy on the phone he is on his way so I better jet. Have a good one everybody!

A lesson in futility
Trying to keep your house clean while getting ready for a show is like treating a bullet wound with a bandaid. Make that a shotgun shell wound with a bandaid, the small ones like you use on your pinkie.
I am trying to pick up a little on top of everything because my in laws are coming to stay with the pets. They don't need to see the glitter, paper, clutter, fur, chaos that is our house right now. I can't believe how late in the day it is already. We are going to JUST make it for this show I think.
I will be showing you all my summer dragon in my video blog tomorrow. It is already filmed and edited and will be posted at midnight EST. Ignore my frazzled rantings just look at the art ;)
Ah pre show stress how I miss you. Tonight I am going to try and teach Johnnie how to sculpt in prep for my Sculpting work shop next week. I just hope people find it fun/interesting.
Johnnie is downstairs formatting images for our mugs and a few other things. Our candle page is getting a make over as well. Lots to do even if you don't count Imagicon. We have a wholesale order to fill as well before we leave. I don't think I will be sleeping until we get back. Then I will, for like a week and then I have to do it all over again for the next show ;)

Bailing myself out with a straw
Ok well my orders went out for the week and I am now working on all of my signage for the show. Last year ALL of our signs got ruined at the MD fairy festival from HELL...108 degree heat followed by the worst lightning storms which soaked half of our stuff. I got sun poisoning, it sucked! So I have to make some more for this year, I want to laminate them but don't have a laminator.
I am behind on my emails, like way behind so sorry about that.
We will be all packed and ready to go by this weekend, we leave for Alabama on Thursday. My in laws are staying at the house watching the pets so that is all good. I packed my suitcase yesterday. I have originals to mount today and a billion and a half other things.

Countdown
Do this time next week we will be on our way to Birmingham AL for Imagicon. We are getting closer to being ready. I am really really dragging today for some reason or another. The gloomy weather outside isn't helping at all.
Yesterday all our big mats came for our show exclusive jumbo prints as well as some other things. I spent hours matting and mounting items for the show. All we have left are a few originals and we are finished with that. It has been all encompassing for days with printing and packaging. I have started to pack everything up already and am hoping we have room in the van for everything. My Mugs I have with Tate and Company came in and they are going to the show with us.
I finished summer dragon but think there is no way for me to do any more painting this week. We will see how it goes.

Pink
My inner vandal is loving today. I am spray painting all of my old show fixtures to make them look new and color coordinated. I wanted this pale purple but two stores didn't have it so I had to settle for Fairytale pink. It is the kind of pink that is so pale and fluffy it just doesn't seem right. I like it though. I am going to add sparkles to it anyway. Maybe NOW no one will think Ash Evans is a GUY!! You have NO idea how many times people think Johnnie is Ash..sigh..
My goals for today is to spray paint all the fixtures, pack at least one box of show stuff and finish summer dragon. We are two weeks out and there is still so much to do. I better get to it! Johnnie is going to finish all of the special cut matting for the show tonight and I should start mounting stuff tomorrow. So today is the LAST day you can purchase any Mythical Chakra original until they come back (if they do at all) I miscalculated some things so I have to redo my bay space for Imagicon, hopefully I can make all that I want to fit in there.
Lots to do, lots to do. Last night for a little while Johnnie and I watched the Buffy disk we had from Netflix. He has never watched the series before which is just crazy. I mean the crap he watches on the CW now makes me cringe...Which really is hilarious the man is a bad a$$. I also have been doing some reading at like 2am to try and unwind. I finished Kitty goes to Washington and am now reading Kitty takes a holiday. The Kitty Norville series is pretty cool (She's a werewolf)
Anyway I blogcrastinated enough for today. I will be doing a special pets post tomorrow for St. Patrick's day!!

Getting ready
We are really busy today. I am suffering from a case of shin splints which if any of you are runners out there, you feel my pain. We are not going to the zoo as we have too much work. If we are lucky and my legs aren't killing me we may go tomorrow.
Today we are making the best of things. Johnnie is in his work shop matting and mounting all the artwork going to Imagicon. We are really really hoping none of it comes back. I spent the better part of two hours setting up and photographing the set up for our dealer room booth there. It is done and I am going to start packing soon. We need to make sure it all fits in the van with our luggage. If our operation continues to expand we are going to need a bigger booth for shows and a trailer. I want to hold off on that for as long as I can, it just costs too much. This year is really going to determine what merchandise stays and what goes for good. We already have things in mind we want to phase out.
I need to get a few more things painted and sculpted for the show. As soon as this one is ready to roll we need to look ahead to May when things really get rolling show wise. I want to start doing some designer OOAK jewelry with my art. The cameos are nice but I feel like it is the same old same old. We are designing some things now that if time permits will make its way to the May shows. I am really excited about this. I can't get started until the book is finished though. Once I have enough paintings to fill it I am going to take a break to do other things for shows. I need it anyway I am getting burned out. We are going to be spray painting some shelving that my grandpa (Pop) gave us last year. We are working on a color scheme for the booth and making the cloths and fixtures match. This will be a process, especially since the cloths we want are $$$$$. Yikes!
All of our prints are ready for the show, All the statuary is signed we just need to affix labels on things. We need to mat and mount a lot of stuff and order a few more things. For the most part we are ready to roll which is nice. I want to finish the poor neglected Summer dragon this weekend. I am just feeling kinda meh about it and I think it is because I am stressed about all the other show stuff.
If you had your eye on any of the Mythical Chakra originals, I highly suggest you purchase them now because once they are matted and mounted they are going to Imagicon and hopefully priced to never return.

Enchanted Baths Demo
Hi Everyone,
I had a fun day in Washington DC yesterday. I couldn't afford to really take time off but it was a once in a life time kind of thing to see the Senate and the Capitol from an insider position. I got to be in the gallery of the Senate while it was in session. We did the touristy monument things too. I will post pics soon.
I just shot a little promo for Mystic Memories and I wanted to share it with you.
Hopefully this gives you a better idea of what they are and what the do.
I am going to opening weekend at the Baltimore Zoo, we get to go to the new giraffe feeding pavilion. Its a research trip but it will be lots of fun too!!

Enchanted Baths Collection
Hello Everyone,
I am proud to announce the release of my new Enchanted Baths collection with Mytsic Memories! My Mythical Chakra series was made exclusively for the labels of these amazing salts. They actually color the water (not you) and have beautiful shimmering sparkles in them. We have one for each Chakra, bagged in these adorable little colored bags. The label is fairly large so you get a nice piece of art on the packaging as well!
Each color has its own wonderfully hand blended scent that we think represents the color best. I am having a hard time deciding which is my favorite!

Stress
Hi everyone,
I am trying my best to stay ahead of everything but I always feel like I am behind lately. I am not finished my summer dragon. I had some business to attend to this weekend as well as I have been printing all my prints for Imagicon. All of my regular prints are complete bagged and tagged and now I am doing fine velvet art prints. My goals for today are to finish printing all the velvet prints and hand accent them. I am also doing a bit of spring cleaning in the house, on my computer and on the website. So much to do, never enough time. I am not sleeping so well lately and that makes me get up late. Once I do get up I already feel behind. I think its time to get some red bull and suck it up.
Anyway I will post again tomorrow hopefully with a more fun update.

Bleach
Ok so after todays fiasco I am DONE with bleach and other harsh household cleansers. I hate bleach, with a passion. I always have. We have some cleaning stuff with it in there and I was cleaning the bathroom while some paint was drying. I spray some and a stream shoots sideways onto our black shower curtain. FRACK! So I rip it off of the bar and immediately soak it in the tub to salvage it. In doing so I brush my pants on a surface with the bleach. FRACK FRACK! Off come the pants and into the tub with the shower curtain. I love these pants I wail. Riookie, in his curiosity comes in to see what all the fuss is about. He looks at me. LOVE????!!! He purrs like a madman. FRACK FRACK FRACK you are IN THE BLEACH. Into the tub goes kitty and much scrubbing and cursing comes from both parties. No more bleach, ever....
Seriously, I was a water and vinegar person before I got married. I wasn't a fan of it making my house smell like a salad though. Gotta fix that somehow.
Anyway aside from the excitement I am painting and housecleaning and getting my healthy dose of swearing out of the way for the day. I have been playing guitar hero Aerosmith at night with Johnnie. Insert more swearing here. Never ever play a video game with me with children in the room. EVER. I am starting to kick butt.
I also made it so you can pre order the figurines off of the website. I will do so for the book too. I need to figure out how to adjust the shopping cart so shipping is less. Not enough hours in the day I am afraid. Orders ship tomorrow, if you want to sneak on in there I am filling stuff now and it will ship tomorrow. I get to pick up my shiny new banner tomorrow too. I will do a video blog this week too. :)

Pre Orders
Pre orders:
We are now currently taking preorders for my art book as well as the 2009 figurines.
The figurines are 16.00 each plus 5.00 S&H (we can combine shipping if buying more then one) you can buy an entire set of 6 for 80.00 plus S&H (you get one figurine free that way) These figurines will be signed AND be the first to ship out. We have a limited number coming so please reserve yours early. If you would like to pre order a figurine please email ashevans@phoenixxfirestudios.com and put pre order in the subject heading. We are also going to need the figurine/s you want as well as your name and mailing address. We will email you as soon as the figurines are in. They are due in end of April. If for some reason we sell out of a particular figurine during preorders it will be on a FIRST come first served basis.
Also we are taking pre orders for “The art of Whimsy” my very first art book! It is due to be released May 1st. Preordering reserves you a signed copy with a little sketch in it from me. They will be 25.00 plus 5 S&H OR you can order the deluxe edition for 50.00 and get a fine velvet art print of the cover art (Pylon) that is signed and hand embellished by me along with the signed book and sketch. to reserve your copy send me an email with your information with pre order in the subject line. I am only offering a limited number of deluxe editions, lets say 50.
